What is Paediatric Dietetics?

Paediatric Dietitians are university qualified with additional qualifications in paediatric dietary management. Dietitians assess dietary intake and provide individualised information and strategies about nutritional needs for optimal growth and development in children and adolescents.


What to expect

  • Initial assessment: 60 minute 1:1 consultation with an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) discussing your child’s medical and health history, dietary intake, specific issues, and concerns and providing education and strategies to work towards changes needed in nutritional intake for growth concerns, fussy eating, weight management, mealtime management and supplementation if required.

  • Follow-up consultations: 30-60 minutes providing further education, strategies, and liaison with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for your child .

  • It’s best to speak to your GP about your nutritional or growth concerns.
    Some children may be eligible for Medicare care plans depending on your GP’s discretion.

  • If your child is covered under your private health cover and dietetics is part of your cover then we can process the rebate on the spot at your appointment.

  • No this isn’t necessary; we spend the time in the initial appointment to discuss your child’s eating habits and general day-to-day variabilities.
